In the Landsberg/Kaufering area – as in the rest of the Federal Republic – the National Socialist past was suppressed by the majority of the population. From the 1980’s onwards various initiatives gave a boost to remembrance activity. Several scientific projects as well as memorials and memorial sites sprang up, that provide a reminder of the suffering and death of the Jewish victims of the Landsberg/Kaufering concentration camp sub-camp complex.
